When I was a boy,
Sun shower’s rain drops fell,
Large and slow
And lit upon my skin,
Almost weightless.
At those moments careless.

Walking home through,
Parcelled meadows,
Along the road,
Breeze blown this way and that,
Almost weightless.
With those moments careless.

On a winter’s day,
With blocked up head,
Breathing in air so clear,
On fresh snow feet float,
Almost weightless.
For those moments careless.

When I found you,
By chance or fate,
The past remembered
But not relived.
Again now almost weightless.
In this one moment careless.

Fergus Carty
