Unlined curtain changed by magic,
To indoor rainbow by light without.

The morning window single glazed,
Waterford Crystal cut frost inside and out.

From beneath layers of woollen blankets,
Cozy warm cocoons three brothers sprout.

Jumping onto bare floor-boards,
Voices of cold feet in unison shout.

Running down rope-carpet stairs,
For elder siblings looking round about.

For uniforms and bags and lunches,
Vainly toddlers broken words let out.

Then all too soon and in turn by turn,
“I don’t want to go to school!”, each shout.

I loved the image this poem creates. I can see clearly the boys coming to the conclusion that it's a school day. Great job

Thank you. I love the warm recollections and the honesty of it. I will be sure to tell the author of your kind words.
