tea gone cold, black cat paces the windowsill
phone battery dead
small black bitch just peed on the floor

drags me from my work and books
to wash the floor with vinegar

bones balls dishcloth crumbs unswept
she battles broom bristles with fierce teeth

today, I ignore the kitchen tiles.
Her velvet muzzle nudges me,

tongues the crumbs
from under my feet.
