So, if we meet again, what should I say?
If I should speak to you, subdue my fear
Should I apologize and walk away?
Or linger with excuses, words unclear
And mumbles of regret? Should I decline
To speak to you at all, wear the veneer
Of sullen, proud indifference, yet incline
My ear to hear your words, if words you speak
And do not with your silence oppose mine
Arouse in me this melancholy streak
Like that which haunts me, waking every day?
Should I deny the tears upon my cheek?
Should I speak gracious words, resolve to pray?
Tell me, if now we meet, what I should say

Edward Rhodes

"The moon is like a mystery novel, the sun like a motivational self-help book, and the stars a coffee table book of photography. The sky is the whole library, and God the librarian".

A warm dim light,
a nova trying to burst out
from behind a dense gas cloud,
a candle with flickering light
in the first light of dawn
bring you to me-
a warm but fragile soul,
inviting me to study you
to capture, nurture, or cover
before you are reduced to smoke
like the fading darkness
after the sun's first glow,
before all the other bright lights
are reduced to a flat white
in a firmament of blue.

Your warm light on my skin
makes mine more desirable than it is.
I want your light
lingering across the length of my arms,
just beside the shadow
on my neck.
I am your hero,
your prince from a fairy tale book,
out here to protect
your flickering light,
to blow away the cloud
and reveal your glow,
retained its warmth
as I behold every color-
blue, yellow, orange-
from your flame.

There is something about your light
that ignites a fire in my eyes
shadow and light
competing
in a small space of a couch.
I don't mind being fused as one
in your light,
and together burn as one nova
until the fuel indicator
turns leftmost.
Let us, then, fade away
into infinite darkness
and allow ourselves to be re-born
as new stars,
breaking forth once more
from a nebula
that kept your warm light dim
and enclosed.

it is a tiny part
as tiny as a grain of sand
you hardly give it
attention
you keep on saying
what is in this grain of sand
that philosophers
say contain this universe
something so tiny
yet to contain everything
and so you hold the grain of sand
against the light
and revolve it around your fingers
little finger planets
to the sun grain of sand
you cannot believe what you
felt and saw
and so you throw away that grain
of sand to the air
eating it like a big mouthed monsters

you are lost
your world dissolves
like ice
you turn to air
and there you are
gone.

Rick Bastasa

There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic.

Wind blow now through my mind,
Blast out the mustering thoughts
That are littered there and
Heaped in stale repeating piles.

Buffet my aching body, numb,
Chill me through and replace
The damp cold that has crept
Into my joints, along my bones.

Let you take over the tugging
Of my steely hair to distract
My searching hands from seeking
Answers that cannot match their questions.

Or does this ? merely mark the warping
Of a onetime arrogant certainty?
Nothing to quest after in reality
Just chasing figments, elusive shadows.

I am pushed down into the up-turned
Collar of a jacket padded with illusions
As it flaps open in the ripping wind
Shredding dreams without concessions.

i have found them, the things that cannot be lost
education, and patience,
my steady face...inside my room,
the mirror that looks at me
always, these eyes

i shall always keep what treasures i found
you, and myself, that time so luckily gives
our lips, our bodies, our mouths
we never exchange them for anything

we found what we deserve: the poetic existence
of these beings.
that stare and droll, these eyes, these hands.

Music speaks my language
whatever mood i'm in
passion
or sadness
music sings within

music calms my troubles
shows every possible ending
with lyrics to different songs
music sings within

music shows me friendship
like happiness
and to never leave my side
music sings within

music sings within me
it speaks my language
calms my troubles
shows me friendship
music sings within

there's not one song that represents me
or my oh but unique life
there's not one song
that's dark enough
for those silly little fights
but bright enough for when i see you
not one song shows
how i feel when
i write along my arms
or when i lay currled up in a ball on a cold winter's day

music sings within me
diffrent lyrics for every day
this is the song of my life
i choose when to press
stop, pause, or play.

Mother wants to catch a beautiful butterfly
To put on me in my pink dress
And bring me to stroll down the street

My Mother chases and chases
Until a butterfly
Is caught in my mother’s clever hands
But I am always swaying
Frightening the butterfly
So that when she moves, her wing is either too long this way
Or too short that way
If mother has to relax her hands
Butterfly flies away quickly

Mother wants me to be an obedient child
I stand still and move less
Finally, mother catches
A big beautiful butterfly
That becomes a bow tie on my pink dress
And our stroll begins

Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Above the mountain cap the air is scarce
but in an instant I feel her breath. A breath
that slides through the icy mist and revives
a passion through my lungs and chest. What
a vision are her eyes, blue butterflies in a sky
so trim. Another chance for me to love again,
sparkling water fills to the glassy rim. Calling
to me are her lips only to be intoxicated by
the taste. Not done in haste any calculated
movements-enjoying while it lasts a tobban-
ing pace..Now I see all her face-sunlight has
broken the frozen haze, the gods answer in
doing not with praise, opening the door to one
timeless day.

Love,
You have led me a merry dance across Life’s stage!
You auditioned me beside a plastic Cupid
Only to cast me with an altogether leaner Eros
Who loosed barbed arrows
That tore my Heart so painfully when retrieved.
Away with your silk screen!
You project on it a coy Venus
But I have glimpsed the fractured Aphrodite
That you had hidden in the wings.
You cajoled me to open up my Heart
To let you pluck sweet chords across its strings
But some you have ripped roughly from their settings
Never to be replaced.
So often you have tripped me up
To play the fool before the crowing crowd
How many times have you pulled back my hand
When I sought to touch The One?
You puppeteer who have jerked my strings
This way and that and left me struggling
In a carelessly woven web.

Man,
Do not seek to blame me now
If you find yourself all tangled up in lines.
It is long ago that I had cut you free!

a rainy night
deprives me of the view of the stars.

the moon is hidden
by the clouds

coping up
the ears grope for the song
of the frogs

the soothing sound of the
the song of the rain

love's hugs, and kisses
love making love warm and
memorable

now it is fair
you are sleeping in my arms
my nakedness split open
to the mirror in the ceiling.
