In the ultra earth-shine a reflection

Summer’s host rides with the ills of silence,

a hunched weeping muse collects her tears

like the frequent pebbles that span a beach.

In the dead fields of weathered corn

she rests well under dapple skies of canvas,

in prayer she weeps for songs of hope

from the Gods and ghosts that glisten the night.

The evening hoaxer rustles laggardly

in the illusory eye of her sleep,

the wise musings of nomadic wildlife

guardians to the languisher of dreams.

The night carried the idle day away

she could hear the day slowly dwindling

the resurrected whispers of his words

enchanting the woodlands with his return.

Yet all of creation cannot seem to stop talking about it.

the brume that stills amid the frosty fill
and cloaked my view to reach whom i think of
above the marsh denied my hope until
i cried more of my sweet immortal love
she beckoned me, thus my grit was unfrayed
while ever bounded to bring forth each breath
and as i thought more with my heart, it stayed
and oh, relinquished my own soul from death
yet overwhelming fate became my own
in sense i could not make it through the ridge
'til my endeared belovéd was alone
in brokenheartedness among a bridge
"forgive me, love" i whispered as i died
just as she wept for all we left untied

Very hard for one to see,
Even harder to actually be.
Skeletal existence a tragic sight,
A heavy heart knowing their plight.

..

Only crime was being born,
To a world full of scorn.
They are God’s children none the same,
The whole World should be ashamed.

..

We go about our daily lives,
Unconcerned with their strife.
Little ones with naught to eat,
We quibble about what’s on our feet.

..

In this world of material excess,
Not one child should be in distress.
Children starving is not a game,
Many countries are to blame.

..

People sit with all their riches,
Ignoring ones lost in the ditches.
It's their fault is their usual cry,
This they mutter with a dry eye.

..

My heart is heavy and full of tears,
Their cries are falling on deaf ears.
No reason for a child to starve,
While turkey and beef we doth carve.

..

It's time we take a look at others,
After all they are our brothers.
They need our help it's to be expected,
A starving child can never be accepted.

..

Children starving throughout the world,
It's all around don't take my word.
They are Gods children and not to blame,
The whole World should be ashamed.

..

..and through a curious enchantment,
which in time aroused my secret self,
I was at once acquainted with my heart's eternal dreams"
- Robert E. Anderson
~

blooming mystique of a sapphire cloth
wrapped in beauty for her dreams to breathe
such wonder inside the grace that blooms
each way that she sings her poetry

when nighttime shimmers to bare its tone
through whispers so calming she finds her way
under moonlight as she dances in rhythm
to capture the moments which charmingly sway

echoes that cry to her soul's endearment
and never to cost her pains of life
blooming mystique of a sapphire cloth
dance with me till the end of time

in all your dear sweet essence beyond
mere mortals understanding for how you voice
every word that causes their hearts to endure
i sense how you yearn the enchantment of joy

blooming mystique of sapphire cloth
wrapped in beauty for your dreams to breathe
i wish you the best in all your endeavors
and pray you will find all the love you seek

I dreamt that I fell into a tidal sea whose mean little waves rolled brown into their white foam crest.
Dirty little waves, tumblingheadlong into a pebble rock shore.

I walk buoyantly, stubbornly, inside a swirl of water who doesn’t understand footsteps and wants to carry me away.
Wants to give its greatest gift,
wants to cast its favorite spell.
Wants to take the weight from me and let me float.

But I reject,
and dig my toes further into glass crystal sand, push my weight against an ocean army advancing in waves to take me down & under.
It is unmoved by my oxygen dependence.
It smiles at my finless form, my primitive lungs that can’t separate 2O from H.
I am a fish out of water, and the water wants to make me swim.

And in my dream, when I found ground & began to walk again- when I was still in water, but not swimming-
I felt a net of salt adorning me, I shimmered like a diamond.
And as the water lapped weaker and lower, petting my calves, ankles, toes-
I felt a silky seaweed mass that hung from my head like a train.
My hair had grown back, long & thick down my back, while I was slowly opposing the current.

In that dream way, it felt like years, but was only a day.
In that real way, it means nothing but is all of me, just the same.

early morning rise
stepping outside
gather up the paper
glancing up
at the sky

not a cloud
to cover
the star studded
night
someone had mixed
a bucket of
sparkles and tossed
upward picturesque
against the black
ink of nothingness

like twinkling
christmas lights
some bright
others not
quite beautiful
thousands to see

what did the ancient ones
wonder as they sought
to reach and touch
beyond their grasp

always there
always changing
with the seasons
after all these
years still amazes
the beauty of nature

You appear to me, enveloping me with your heart
Binding me with your chains of lust
Trapping me in your sensual nest of intoxicating
pleasures...

You come to me, wrapping your lecherous webs
around my tattered wings
Trapping me forever in your embrace
You mend my broken wings
But then, you rip them apart again
and as always...
You vanish from my side
Taking the remnants of my heart with you

That grip that you have on my heart
Like the coldness of a pythons grip
Its so unbearable!

That bittersweet pain that splinters my heart
That persistent ache sheltered deeply in
its secret chambers...aah I need you so much!

In the dark of the night, The still calm of the morning, to the blazing fire of the afternoon....
No matter how long
No matter how far
I await your return
My Phantom Lover

Love spins out her strategies old on a checkered field,
You are the fool to rush in bold on a checkered field.

That patch-work of the night was a deceitful comfort,
Just a maze to you was sold on a checkered field.

How easy you were dazzled by lacquer and veneer,
Distracted as the plays unfold on a checkered field.

Why now are you advancing again into a breach,
Changing rank not order you hold on a checkered field?

You think castles were ever meant to be your booty?
What victory do you behold on a checkered field?

What wisdom wades deep in blood beyond the turning point,
Cutting down knights as you are told on a checkered field?

You drew the Saxon prelate’s life on those sacred tiles,
Those dark spots will endure like mould on a checkered field.

With broken shield and sword in your calloused hands,
A chill runs through you sharp and cold on a checkered field.

Gion, your sweating palm grasps but a worthless ring of brass
It was never yours that crown of gold on a checkered field.

Fergus Carty

The end-game has swept the board at last,
Cutting through the serried ranks.
The pieces captured and others traded,
Discarded now wait out the match.

Rooks assaulted and Bishops taken,
Knights fallen after some fateful jump.
While in some corner or on a border,
A lone Pawn holds a King at bay.

You fool! You fool! You poor deluded fool,
You’re left to man these stations all alone.
Too late aware promotion was token
And your Queen seeks cheque and mate.

They took your wings
and expected that you
would no longer
be an angel

How wrong
could they get?

You are the angel
that changed evil
into mitzvah.

You are the archetype
of good with a hint
of mischief.

You are holy
without being
worshipped

You are loved
without lust

You are my wife
my friend
my betrothed

How could
I help but
love you?

Larry Jaffe
