I see a squirrel building his nest.
In his life he has but one quest.
To build that nest as sturdy as can be,
So nothing can dislodge it from that tree.
Mother squirrel is satisfied as she inspects his work,
Pleased, she gives him an acorn as one of his perks.
He built this nest with love and care,
Now completed, with his family he'll share.
I watch as this family begins to progress,
Then the little ones come out to assess.
All parties have approved of this new place,
It was built by their father with loads of space.
The family has left; the nest is now void,
A place called home that they really enjoyed.
The empty nest syndrome is with my friend with the bushy hair,
I know how sad he feels, I've already been there.
