One heavy foot
In front of the other
Strong with purpose
My mind is clear.

Disturb me
One knuckle at a time
Levels are secure
Fire drips, liquids burn.

Tired of being second best
I am a goddess
Waiting to be loved
Like all the rest.

Drape me in kisses
Swallow my breath
Weighted down by your pain
This, I must overcome.

Jaw gripped
Awkward stance
How can I make
Myself eat your lies.

Fast approaching age
Just settled into thirty
I’d like to stay here
Awhile longer.

I need to feel you
All of you
I want to know you
You want to know me too.

I don’t want to live this life
I’m tired
There is nothing more
For me to feel.

Knowing I’m not
Prepared on my own
I call out to the Lord,
Father, provide me hope.
