When the ocean is stormy
I sail my best
For the calm, peaceful seas
They are not a test
It's when the waves are crashing
And it feels the end is nearing
Those moments make you cherish
When you come to the clearing
It's the bad times that shape us
To who we need to be
To appreciate the good times
This truth sets us free

Ryan Lee Morris

Daily Quote: Most of us love, to be sure. Yet far too often our love is passive.
We must be proactive in our love in order for it to change our lives.
- Marianne Williamson

If You Lose Your Drive and Heart…
You are Doomed from the Start…
Thankfully…I Still have My Heart…
It Helps ME Tell Real and Fake Apart…
Amazingly…I Still have My Drive…
It Seems to Keep My Faith Alive…
To Come this Far and Still Hold On…
To "Something" and Morals that Others have Let Gone…
Gone way…Far Away…Left Somewhere to Eventually Decay…
I Choose to Let Mine Shine…I Keep it on Display…
For All …..to See and Envy…
And often Wonder "What’s the Deal with ME?"
Or "Why she??? Why won’t she??? And Why don’t she???
My Answer to all of This is Don’t worry about ME…I’ll be fine…
I have No One and Nothing to Fear…
As the End of my College Years Near…
I am Proud of all My Actions…and Choices…
Despite others and Their Negative Voices…

A man who lives right, and is right, has more power in his silence than another has by his words.

Sands of time sifting through my fingers, longing to hold him once again, kneeling down heart heavy, with a pull and a shove from father time, I must make the climb, to the sunshine, keeping on the grind, never to let up, with much ado about pain, there is nothing to gain, with a sad grin, and a heavy step, I take the leap that I too will heal. Upwards turn of my face to the sun, gently I caress my gun, thoughts and thinking, I lay it down so very close to the ground, turn away, and march on, determined I will succeed, I will not partake of weakness, moving along, face turned to the sun, permanent chill down to the bones, I turn and face the grave, kneeling down I shed my tears words don’t matter he can’t hear me, but he should know my thoughts, Beloved for ever through life and death I am yours. Tears drop and splash upon the grave, watering a seed, unknown to me, the cycle of life continues, and I shall meet up with my soul mate once again. With a cracked heart and a legion to reign, I forge forth into the Sun..

"What has he done for us lately?" is the question of choice, as heard from
the screams in alabama to the whispers in illinois, "we don't want health
reform!" Is seen on the banners, and heard from the scanners of the
voices who suffer

It's only been almost a year since he made his transition, yet complaints
of the economy still being in the same position, by ignorant minded
people overnight change is expected, but since it's not detected, our
president by some is no longer respected, and falls further down the
cracks of the ones who never accepted

"What have you done for us lately?" is the question of choice, that is
heard from the screams of your outspoken voice, he works on his plan, as
he does the best he can, your people are dying over the border, but he's
extending helping hands, but please don't forget, he's only just a man!

Bush was better! Obama, he sucks!, the economy was bad, but now it's all
messed up! I hear the complaints, but where's the support? Did you
people forget that we only voted for a man? A man who stands tall, and
does the best that he can! who strives for the best, and works hard on
his job, and who cares for the people, but the people are snobs!

The ones who are quick to criticize his name, when things are going
wrong they throw him into the flames, those are the kind who don't
represent change, some who stand behind war, and the ones who lied,
failing to realize that his dreams for our nation have not died, in fact
they're still alive, slowly but surely progression is being paved, only
a matter of time until lives are being saved

but it's ok cause if you're not for him now, then you weren't for him then,
but the ones who are for him, it would be a shame for you to change,
cause the reasons for this economy are not his to blame, he's only doing
the best that he can in the position that he was given, and if he's
wrong for that, then I hope he's forgiven

Dear Little girl amina, I remember how it was since hurricane katrina,
waiting for fema to come through with your aid, didn't know it would
take this long for you to be saved,

president bush didn't give a damn about you all, he came too late, now
the water's too tall, the water's too high so you can't even crawl, so
you
fall to your knees as you crawl to the breeze, sinking below the depths
that transcend as you freeze

man, woman, and child surrounded by trees, wind blowing harder than a
solid block of cheese, Human beings on roof tops awaiting rescue to
come,

there's panic in the air, and it's seen with every stare, people
screaming out, "this is so unfair! where's our rescue? George Bush
don't care!"

You begged miss katrina to please leave you alone, what did you ever do
that was so so wrong?, you asked miss katrina what is this all for?,
she
ignored you, and then proceeded to give you all more,

all this raging water destroying your whole town, a town no more, now
it's all in the ground, After the storm is over you're left with the
sounds, the sounds of people crying, and running all around, Trying to
find ones who seem to have gone, gone with the waters, and left all
alone,

we all blame the levees, and say they weren't strong, or maybe
hurricane katrina was just way too strong, in any event it left you with
no sight, it came on suddenly, and left you in the night, "where's bush?"
you cried as you continued to fight,

hurricane katrina did damage to you all, it stung your spirits, and
made some of you fall, but there are some things that it could not
kill,
and that's your spirit, and your strong fighting will,

You all will rebuild this town, and make it stronger than before, and
then tell katrina to come give you some more, you'll make the levees
stronger to where she can't break through, and then ask miss katrina,
"what are you going to do?"

Jason L. Rivers

Our lives are defined not by the challenges we encounter, but by how we respond to those challenges.

Through that enlightened feeling in my mind
Not straying from the brightness I desire
By those who've shed through beauty of a kind
I long to grow by those whom I admire
To be much more than my mere mortal frame
and bid beyond my capability
If I'd conceive my thoughts to share their aim
Then I shall truly have nobility
What can it be to stand in time alone
If I maintain my ways throughout this thought
Much more within my life by righteous tone
I may create that ripple I have sought
But nothing in my soul does indicate
That I am surely meant to be as great

Robert Anderson

With glasses she does not merely see,
She closely observes her world.
With ear-piece she does not just hear,
She intently listens to every word.

Surgery alone did not fix
The hole in her heart,
After two fingers and two lips
Made it once again start.

Braces did not help her walk,
Slowly, rigid and unbending
But four hands and two voices,
In praise of her efforts unending.

Hormone treatment strong
Did not itself her progress make,
Nor physio-therapy long,
Her childhood’s journey make.

Speech therapists
Could not the gift of speech make
But sign at home
Helped her silence to break.

Yet still she prospers,
Through all of the above,
With a Mother’s and Father’s
Unshakable, unending Love.

Fergus Carty
