Humid snow-haze hangs,
faint flush of pink dawn.

Damp tree groins glisten,
naked as brides
blush in blue air.

Morning’s green
rapture.

However long the night, the dawn will break.

There is a frozen heart
Inside a very warm body
There is a pale soul
Contrasting with a colorful eye
There is an empty mind
Under her blond hair
But she is just a figurine…

So I went out of that store
After that very frozen moment.

Suddenly, I see a girl
Made of pure angel material
-Go for her! -cried out my heart in desperation
She is walking on the streets of my city
She is promenading away from me again
She is getting away from my tired eyes
-Go for her!

Being a little shy I approach
She glanced at me with a very distant sight
Frozen heart and pale soul
Magical eyes and beautiful lips
Vague mind facing me
-Heavens! She is just another figurine...

tea gone cold, black cat paces the windowsill
phone battery dead
small black bitch just peed on the floor

drags me from my work and books
to wash the floor with vinegar

bones balls dishcloth crumbs unswept
she battles broom bristles with fierce teeth

today, I ignore the kitchen tiles.
Her velvet muzzle nudges me,

tongues the crumbs
from under my feet.

I stumbled across
a leprechaun lair
today;

it was deserted
with no signs
of green.

I suppose the
economic crisis
has struck the
magically adept;

some kind of
luck of the irish
recession.

Til I remember
there's a parade today
with pub crawls
into the wee early morn.

Lots of kissing
and pinching
and toasting
and boasting.

Quite the stimulus
package.

I can see
a black pot
in the corner
slowly start to fill
with gold.

Who cares if
Punxsutawney Phil
saw his shadow?

The sun is shining
with record high
temperatures.

I predict this
horrible winter
is over.

She lives on.. Despair

Through out the times, wish she had two dimes,
always smiling, pushing through the pain,
everything to gain, she hears the music still.
With a grin and a cupcake, she heads out to the grill,
flips the burgers, because as a single mom,
she has to be the dad too, flip flip the burgers.
Feeds the kids, does the dishes, makes her wishes
Longing for a hug, she settles for a coffee mug,
kids are asleep, happy though they are
she lays her head down and weeps,
Because her childrens father was a creep,
she’ll never see a dime, let alone two to rub together,
but her and her kids were thick like feathers,
longing for her youth, and the ability to wear leather,
she gathers her self up and smiles,
She’ll make it, because she has too,
her and her kids will stick together like glue,
and with that a smile she was out of the blue,
sipping on her coffee, and folding laundry,
this is her life now, not a princess, not a queen,
not a dancer with nothing to preen,
hamsters cage is next it too needed to be clean,
this is now her dream, a home, never to roam,
routine, routine same things every day,
this was the price she had to pay for a moment of love,
nine years ago, she never told him,
he was in a band, his career came first,
so with a must, and a thrust, she loved him for ever more,
she had a part of him with in her.. he never to know
because he had to go to the next show,
her heart did crumble, and quitely she did mumble
you rocker band man, I loved you i was a fan,
long and gone, he never really forgot about her
never had her name, and she never reached fame,
So he could never quite find his fair dame,
he married another, that was it.. she knew it,
from afar she knew it her soul did wither,
and for ever more.. two souls that were once together
now living two half lifes… she never did marry,
because her heart was heavy, she keeps photos of him
a scrap book for her kids, for if they have questions
there will be answers, she chose to let him have his career
and basically the decision kicked her in her rear.

Today, CBC radio listeners have nominated Terry Fox as an outstanding Canadian hero.

Folding laundry with quiet
determination
she understands that chaos
and its theory need to be folded and put
in its place.
That the poet and artist’s role
is to fold chaos and put order
into words is a given,
that the housewife’s role is
to put fold laundry and put
order into her house
is a given,
and that both of these roles
are equally essential to the universe
for they promote order
over chaos
is equally true, thus

as long as there are housewives and poets,
the laundry of the world
will never be left in dirty piles
and the dirty chaos lying await
in the basements of the world
will be neatly cleaned and folded
one more day.

Jennifer Boire

Flower bright how are you
On this early morn?
Opening petals as to greet me,
Do you feel forlorn?

Are you lonely, ever waiting
For hummingbirds and bees?
Do you notice me approaching
Falling down upon my knees?

How refreshed do you feel
With the morning dew?
Does the sun bring you gladness
Shining down on you?

Do you know of your beauty?
Do you feel vain?
Or are you humble, meek and modest
Feeling sorrow and in pain?

If you find you’re unhappy
And you’re feeling sad
Know that I find you lovely
Your beauty makes me glad.

I can see from your petals
As they open wide
Your love and care for the world
You should be filled with pride.

Your scent’s appealing, your color vibrant
You brighten up my day
Don’t you worry, the birds and bees
Will soon be by to play.

I pull the clips from my hair. It cascades soft against my skin
Shake my fingers through my hair. Releasing the day from within
It softly frames my face. Sunlight dances red and gold
I’ve put in a hard day… feeling tired, hot and old
Come and take me in your arms. Shield me from the rain
I won’t take up all your time. Please protect me from the pain
I can’t fix the world's strife. I can’t turn wrong into right
Let me feel safe in your arms. As we slip into the night
Today is almost gone and tomorrow might never be
What is done is done and I’ll have to set it free
All I need is to recharge: regain balance in my life
To lay safe in your arms, sailing quiet through the night
