unfathomable
or so they say when i recite
each droplet of beauty i found deep
in your gilded soul
'til a smidgen of high finds my heart
while goose bumps
trace the depthlessness of my skin;
the very rock i knew and depended on
still remains only
you
and all my dreams lingered until...
oh, until you became
vacantly silent and refused
to tell me why; your blushing lips
closed tightly to the world
still i'll kiss you gently on your forehead
then whisper to you of our romance
so that it echoes throughout your
sweet breath of life, dear lover
it's crazy how easily someone so blameless,
so soothing, and fragile
could be lured into unhappy shadows
why didn't you tell me?
i couldn't have possibly
read your mind
but i watched as the blue devils
that haunted your thoughts
prodded through
then found the flaws which adorned
the nakedness of your secret self
i miss you and still
see us dancing in the rain,
my heart was more restless then
you became the voice that resonated in me...
do you remember?
but now as i sit here wondering if you hear me
i ponder whether or not
to expel my red essence
and if that could save me from this
hurt... the blade looks so, so friendly now
and while i quietly trace along the verge
of these mangled veins
my eyes let loose my teary spirit
and gift me with absolutely no previous comfort
'i love you...' is all i sense i can utter
as my fingers tangle violently
in my oily raven hair
and so, i do through the intensities of it all...
i love you and
that is all there is.

In the quiet of the evening, he sat rocking, rocking slowly
And was warmed by the sun's gentle fingers.
He heard the chickens fighting, scratching greedily for grain
And felt the dog shift at his feet where always he had lain.
Soon he clasped his fiddle then began to play a tune
And sing sweet praises and devotion to his Maker.
"You held my hand, dear Father, and you led me to the light,
You showed me how to truly love, you taught me what was right."
Blind though his eyes had been from birth,
In his world, there was real beauty,
For his Brother had given His life for him
And had died that he might live.
In my friend there was a rare and deep peace
Things of this world could never destroy.
And those who passed by would think him losing his mind
For always he smiled and was happy inside.
"See that old man, that senile old fool,
His mind wanders on his past.
Children don't look, don't look at his eyes,
He is deformed and evil, how much longer can he last?"
And on hearing their voices and hearing their scorn,
He bent his old head to pray,
While tears from his sightless, staring eyes
Rolled slowly down his face.
"Oh Lord," he prayed, "please thelp them to see
The light you give me though my eyes do not see.
They won't admit to the sin that devours their lives,
In their 'wisdom' they are even more blind than me".
Thus when the sun was hid behind the purpling hills,
And the owl hooted from the old oak tree,
He looked up to the Lord and cried out for His mercy,
Till the Lord having pity, took him home to be free.

As though a deaf musician, I am part
Of some great orchestra I cannot hear.
The only notes that fall upon my ear
Are those which rise unbidden from the heart
And offer teasing glimpses of the art
Of harmony. Yet have I heard, in clear,
Still moments of perception, what appear
As distant drum-beats; pulses that impart
A rhythm to the cosmic melody.
Then, with a quick'ning joy, I see that I
Am moving to creation's symphony.
As birds that wheel and dart across the sky
To secret music, so it seems that we
Can sometimes see the patterns as we fly.

Two Seasons
Peach trees on the hill,
Their blossoms will reach full bloom
Then will blow away
Now they are changing,
Bright shades of red and yellow;
The leaves will soon fall.

undying angel, my sweetest gift,
there are no shadows that can veil you away from me
for how easily you have ever,
ever reduced me softly to my secret self
through tears of joy and of no sweeter sorrow
than how my lips remain ungifted
to touch your very own
i have vowed to love you... secretly;
you, my beautiful Moira...
and i truly, truly do.

She sat on the bench across the way,
The sun shining upon her face;
The wind caressing her hair as it sways.
Looking voluptuous and precious, she was full of grace.
She stole my breath, as she turned and looked my way,
She smiled at me, her lips so graciously full with radiance.
I felt hypnotized by her beauty, seduced by her angelic fragrance.
With one look in her eyes, she stole my heart as, to her sweet temptation, I fell prey.
I found myself dreaming, as if it was night.
The sweetest dream, from which I wish I would never wake.
I fell paralyzed by her defined curves, such a wonderful sight.
I wish I could hold her in my arms, until my last breath, I take.
In my mind, quietly to her, I whisper:
“I would love to shower you with many sweet words,
Worship the ground you walk on,
Fill your heart with a love that’s everlasting;
I’d give anything to just spend one second of a minute of an hour with you...
To fall asleep lost in your eyes,
To wake up in the morning, to your smile.
A glorious day, a glorious dream,
A fantasy in dire need of reality;
As I look at you from afar, as the birds chirp in the distance,
With you, to just one song, I would love to dance.”
But then he came to you and embraced you.
I suddenly realized, a princess as precious as you, surely already had her knight.
Yet, you still found a way to look at me, and smiled.
He held your hand, as you walked away in perfect stride.
As I reminisce on that warm summer day,
On my mind and in my heart you’ll always stay.
As I dream of you once more,
In my heart, you will always remain;
As I will never let go of the sweet memory of you.
For, an angel like you comes only once in a lifetime...
For your kiss, I will always long
Your touch I will always crave.
But reality sets in, and I realized, once more, as close as you seem to be,
Your love I’ll never have.
And just like the northern star in the sky,
You are my unreachable star.

One by one the petals drop
There's nothing that can make them stop.
You cannot beg a rose to stay.
Why does it have to be that way?
The butterflies I used to chase
Have gone off to some other place.
I don't know where. I only know
I wish they didn't have to go.
And all the shiny afternoons
So full of birds and big balloons
And ice cream melting in the sun Are done.
I do not want them done

Well, there were flowers outside
For sale,
And we moved amidst them, inhaling,
Stealing their perfume
As the bees did: this was something my
Uncle couldn’t save,
But he still has his unicorn in the cooler,
If you know what I mean,
As my grandfather was in his grave:
And the children who should have
Been to school,
Waited underneath the overpass where
The waves yet echoed:
And in those feral voices, a song-
The memories of sirens saturated there,
And the bells and the lips
Of naiads in their hurricanes-
So the secret orchestras were sung in the
Graffiti’s of their overcast cathedrals,
And at night at home
Sports continued being played- the
Gardens whispered,
And the family prayed- but through the daylight
Desires continued- streaking, foaming,
And answering- vibrations from extending
Shadows- going to brush their lovers
Across the sea- while in their classrooms
The lost girls forgot every memory they cared to
Keep of me.
